Creative sessions: The Courtyard goes online

The Courtyard Hereford is to deliver a range of classes online, enabling participants to engage in creative sessions from the safety of their homes.

The scriptwriting class Writing Room and sight-reading and vocal characterisation classes Reading Room and Reading Room Extra have already started. Delivered for The Courtyard by Feral Productions, the classes allow new and experienced playwrights and performers the opportunity to develop their skills.

Professional dance and fitness practitioner Lisa Fraser will lead Chance to Dance from Friday 12 March. It is a low-impact, accessible dance class that gives people the opportunity to get moving, develop skills and gain confidence.

Fraser said, “today more than ever people need an accessible way to enjoy dance, something this class has always provided. Now we’re expanding on that by bringing it online. Dancing is good for the body, mind and mood and I can’t wait to get started.”

The Courtyard’s education team is modifying its youth theatre sessions and, although the classes will be delivered online, the aim remains the same: to provide an inclusive and accessible environment that inspires young people to learn, develop and create. Anyone interested should contact The Courtyard’s education administrator at [email protected].

A digital youth programme will begin in February which will include online sessions exploring subjects such as audition techniques and writing for the screen. Further details are available at The Courtyard web site.
