Theatre-makers are being offered opportunities to be part of Departure Lounge, Derby Theatre’s “annual summer festival of ground-breaking work”.

Departure Lounge is produced and presented by In Good Company, Derby Theatre’s professional artist development scheme. In 2019, the festival will again consist of a “bumper line-up of shows, Edinburgh previews, a panel discussion with leading industry professionals, workshops, talks and much more”.

Midlands theatre-makers who are planning to take their show to the Edinburgh Fringe are being offered the chance to test their pieces at Departure Lounge. Further details are available at the Derby Theatre web site.

In Good Company is also offering a company or artist from anywhere in the UK the opportunity to receive support to develop a piece of theatre which will be performed at Departure Lounge. The successful applicant will receive a week’s free rehearsal space at the HopBarn, a retreat in the heart of Nottinghamshire, and onsite accommodation. The piece will be performed on Saturday 20 July and branded as the Departure Lounge Package Holiday production. There will also be a performance fee of £500.

In Good Company is particularly looking for work made by artists of colour. It should be between 50 and 60 minutes long and should already be in the process of development.

All submissions should be submitted by Tuesday 26 February. Interviews will take place at Derby Theatre on Tuesday 9 March.
