South Shields’ Customs House is to receive £31,400 as a result of comedian Chris Ramsey’s Celebrity Catchphrase win on Saturday 2 January.

After the show, he tweeted, “The @CustomsHouseLP is an amazing venue and theatres are in big trouble at the moment. So I was glad I could help!”

The venue’s Executive Director, Ray Spencer, replied, “Hard to explain how special it is to have household names with so many demands on them choose to support the Customs House. We never take you for granted. Without you, your fan base and the people of South Tyneside, we would not be able to keep helping young people to be the best that they can be.”

Izzy Finch, Learning and Participation Officer, added, “Absolutely blown away by this generosity! Fiona Martin (Deputy Director Learning and Participation) and I are bursting with pride. Thank you so much, Chris Ramsey, for believing in the work we do at the Customs House in Learning and Participation with young people in The North East.”
