Cinderella headed to Blackpool

Blackpool Opera House will be having a ball—for the first time in more than 60 years—when the pantomime Cinderella comes to the resort next year.

In a partnership with West End Producer Mark Goucher, it will play from December 13 to January 3.

The Opera House has enjoyed years of Christmas musicals, but not since the production of Dick Whittington in 1956 has a family pantomime played at the Winter Gardens. To celebrate, each performance will have more than 100 tickets priced at £10.

Michael Williams, managing director of the Winter Gardens, said, “this large-scale production will really put the magic into Christmas 2020!”.

Mark Goucher added, “after years of touring Hairspray and Priscilla Queen of the Desert to Blackpool, this new partnership will see Blackpool’s biggest family pantomime, focused on local references, topical jokes and, above all, high quality production values and special effects, with faces from screen and stage!”.

Casting will be confirmed in 2020.
