Jason Donovan will make his panto debut in Goldilocks and the Three Bears at Birmingham Hippodrome in December 2020.
He said, “I'm absolutely honoured to have been asked to take part in the Hippodrome panto. To work with Michael Harrison once again is going to be a lot of fun. It’s one of the biggest and best pantomimes in the country and I can’t wait to get started with Matt Slack and the team.”
In the summer of 2019, Donovan appeared at the London Palladium in a revival of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, playing the Pharaoh opposite Jac Yarrow and Sheridan Smith. Donovan will reprise the role at the Palladium in summer 2020 for producer Michael Harrison.
Harrison, Qdos Entertainment’s managing director, said, “without doubt Jason is going to be an absolute natural in pantomime thanks to his undeniable showmanship and quick wit.
“Having worked with him on the recent revival of Joseph, I’ve seen first-hand just what a star he is and I can't wait for him to experience the magic of a Hippodrome audience.”
Comedian Slack will return to the Hippodrome for the eighth year and Donovan will play the Evil Ringmaster in Goldilocks and the Three Bears. It will be the first time the circus-themed panto has been performed at Birmingham Hippodrome since 1997. It will run from Saturday 19 December until Sunday 31 January 2021.
