Mansfield Palace Theatre has reported an increase in attendances, with its pantomime Cinderella breaking box-office records.

Figures for two out of three quarters of the current financial year are up on the previous 12 months at the venue, run by Mansfield district council.

According to the theatre, average attendance from April until December 2013 was up from 70% to 74%.

Andrew Tucker, cultural services manager, said, “I’m thrilled that the figures are strong and show good growth.

“Audiences have come in droves to enjoy Cinderella, one of the most successful pantomimes ever staged in Mansfield Palace Theatre. The strong cast headed by Ruth Madoc and Dave Benson Phillips certainly knew how to entertain the crowds.”

Cinderella finished with 94% of the seats sold, tying with the 2008 production of Sleeping Beauty which featured Malandra Burrows and Tom Owen.

The theatre has revealed that the 2014 panto will again be Sleeping Beauty.
