“Honest, incisive and very funny”: Katherine Parkinson

BAFTA-winning actress Katherine Parkinson is to visit Nottingham Playhouse to raise money for the theatre’s 50:50 Appeal.

Parkinson, who has appeared on television in Doc Martin, The IT Crowd, Sherlock and Humans, will take part in An Evening with Katherine Parkinson, an “intimate” show in which she will be in conversation with Playhouse artistic director Adam Penford.

She said, “I’m thrilled to visit Nottingham Playhouse and I’m really looking forward to sharing stories of my time on stage and screen. To do this while raising money for the Playhouse’s 50:50 Appeal is fantastic, and I hope more people will be able to visit the theatre as a result.”

The appeal raises money to give free theatre tickets to charities and community groups. Since the appeal began in 2013, more than 4,000 people have been able to experience live theatre through the scheme.

Penford added, “I've counted Katherine as a colleague and friend for many years and I'm so thrilled she's agreed to visit us for this unique event.

“She's great company; honest, incisive and very funny. The Playhouse audience will have an entertaining and insightful evening, with a couple of surprises thrown in along the way.”

An Evening with Katherine Parkinson will be held at Nottingham Playhouse on Tuesday 14 January 2020.
