South Shields Customs House has revealed how the 'rule of six' will affect it. In a statement issued today, the venue said:

“We have sadly decided due to the application of the rule of six it is no longer viable for The Customs House, at the moment, to offer cinema or service in Dame Bella’s. The building will remain closed to the public unless there is a specific event or theatre show scheduled.

“Thank you for your patience and continued support.”

Executive director Ray Spencer added, “despite our best efforts to keep trading with Dame Bella’s and our cinema offer, we have taken the difficult decision to suspend trading in both areas until the current anxiety around social distancing and COVID-secure measure begins to clear. However, we will continue with live performances, which we have now successfully delivered 11 times, and, as long as our audience members follow the guidelines, we will be able to keep our customers, staff and performers safe.”
