Newcastle's Live Theatre presents its annual Festival of Youth Theatre

Party Poppers is Live Theatre’s 14th annual Youth Theatre Festival. This year it is part of the celebrations for Live’s 40th birthday and will include plays inspired by Live Theatre's past, brand new pieces devised in a week, a newly formed girls sketch group and an evening of improvisation.

The Festival includes:

Thursday 8 August, 7:30PM
Past Forward
A selection of new short theatre pieces devised by groups of young people from across the region. Inspired by and responding to words and titles of some of the best plays to come out of Live Theatre over its 40-year history, this will truly be a blend of past and present.

Friday 9 August, 7:30PM
Live Theatre: A Celebration, A Play in a Week
A brand new piece of theatre celebrating Live Theatre is devised by a company of Youth Theatre performers and professional actors. The piece will be made in just seven days from first meeting to performance and will be led by theatre-maker and writer Stella Duffy.

Saturday 10 August, 4PM & 7:30PM
Your Aunt Fanny
Newly-formed girls' sketch group, Your Aunt Fanny, provides a fresh comedy platform for seven of the most talented female members of Live's Youth Theatre. Working with two of the region's new writers, Laura Lindow and Lee Mattinson, they will be celebrating everything that is funny, ridiculous and inappropriate.

Sunday 11 August, 7:30PM
Improthon
A theatrical comedy extravaganza, in which actors, drama workers and Youth Theatre members will brave the most dangerous sporting event in the world, the Improthon. The audience supplies the suggestions for the scenes for the brave players to perform.
