Plymouth's Barbican Theatre will join with Residence ONE and Urban Splash for a summer production of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Royal William Yard.
Shakespeare's play will be performed in the Barbican's auditorium from 30 July to 2 August, and then in Residence ONE’s Secret Garden, Royal William Yard from 5 to 9 August, where gourmet burgers, fizz and summer cocktails will be served from the outdoor kitchen.
Director Mark Laville said, "we spoke to Urban Splash a few months ago about bringing an accessible and visual version of A Midsummer Night’s Dream to Royal William Yard and they were as excited about it as we are.
"They were eager to support in any way they could and put us in touch with Residence ONE, who were just as eager to help. With Residence ONE’s beautiful garden as the backdrop, marketing assistance from Onshore and the support of Urban Splash, together we’ve made it possible to bring our unique version of this enchanting story to the yard."
The cast will feature local actors Jacqueline Slade as Titania, Kevin Johnson as Oberon, Melanie Downs as Hermia, Matt Dean as Demetrius, Lisa Wordsworth as Helena, Connor Reed as Lysander, Lewis Peek as Puck and J J McColl as Nick Bottom.
