The Speech: can Prime Minister Liz Oldfield be believed?

A “humorous and thought-provoking exploration of honesty, spin, failure and redemption”, Tony Earnshaw’s The Speech will have three performances at Buxton Festival Fringe.

The play is set at a time when the UK has fallen apart. Scotland and Wales are independent. Northern England may be next. Prime Minister Liz Oldfield has presided over this and a series of other disasters.

Can she reassure the public, find a way through, salvage some pride? First, helped by speech writer John, she must face her demons.

The Speech is the latest play from Unfit Productions, which was set up to promote new writing and focus on the UK’s fringe festivals.

The Speech will be performed in the Paupers Pit, Underground Venues, Buxton on Monday 14 July at 7:30PM and Tuesday and Wednesday, 15 and 16 July, at 9PM.
