Derby Theatre’s programme co-ordinator Adam Pownall is to become artistic programme and participation manager at Lincoln Drill Hall.

His new role will see him taking responsibility for the programming of a wide range of productions and events as well as leading the venue’s participation and talent development programmes.

He said, “it’s a fantastic opportunity to work at a venue with a great history and to continue to offer exciting work for audiences. It’s my ambition to build on this legacy to bring in the highest-quality productions to the audiences of Lincoln and beyond.

“I have a passion for emerging theatre and artist development and hope to make the Drill Hall a creative hub for artists.

“I’m sad to be leaving Derby Theatre as, during my time here, I’ve gained some invaluable experience which will help me greatly at Lincoln Drill Hall. I’d like to say a huge thank-you to everyone at Derby Theatre for their support and for their encouragement as I embark on this new adventure and next exciting step in my career.”

Derby Theatre’s artistic director Sarah Brigham commented, “the appointment is a testament to Adam’s great talent, commitment and passion to programming which my colleagues and I have appreciated during his time here.

“We’re very sad to be losing him but the huge difference he has made to programming the theatre, especially our Studio, has given us a fantastic foundation to build on.”

Pownall will take up his new post at the end of November 2015.
