Lichfield “legend” Sam Rabone is to appear in his seventh panto for the city’s Garrick, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, and will also be directing for the fifth year.
Rabone will play Nurse Nellie in the Christmas 2022 production which is being staged in conjunction with Paul Hendy and Evolution Productions.
Rabone said, “this is the first time I'm doing Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs here at the Garrick so we’re all in for a treat. From a handsome prince to an evil queen, this panto has it all. With new jokes—and some old ones we should probably know better than to use again—I can't wait to hear the first few bars of ‘Bring Me Sunshine’ and bring you the fairest panto of them all.”
Joining Rabone are two more familiar faces, Maria Conneely who played Lizzie in 2021’s All New Adventures of Peter Pan at the Garrick and George Akid who played one of the Ugly Sisters in Cinderella in 2019.
Daniel Breakwell will be Prince Charming and Lindsay Bennett-Thompson will play the Wicked Queen. The seven dwarfs will be Brian Wheeler as Brian, Dean Whatton as Sarge, Liam Roche as Groover, George Coppen as Striker, Jack Hilton as Cheeky, Isaac Napoli as Loopy and Geoffrey Sergison as Sniffly.
Matt Clay, interim executive manager of the Garrick, said, “we’ve faced many challenges this year so we’re delighted to be bringing our annual festive treat back in full force. We have a wealth of talent among our cast and crew, and everyone is very excited for a Christmas season full of magic, entertainment and laughter.”
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs will run from Friday 25 November until Saturday 31 December.
