Rambert's Peaky Blinders

Hit TV series Peaky Blinders is to become a dance production later this year, and comes to The Lowry in Salford in March next year.

A world première of Peaky Blinders: The Redemption of Thomas Shelby will open September 27 at the Birmingham Hippodrome until October 2 and will visit co-producing venue The Lowry from March 14–18, 2023.

Written and adapted for the stage by Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, the dance theatre show will be directed and choreographed by Rambert’s artistic director Benoit Swan Pouffer and feature the 20-strong dance company, and a live band playing specially commissioned music.

It picks up the story of the Peaky Blinders at the end of World War One, following Tommy Shelby and Grace Burgess through their passionate love affair. While Tommy is building his empire, Grace is operating as an undercover agent for Special Branch on a mission to get close to the heart of Tommy’s gang.

Steven Knight says Peaky Blinders has always had music and movement at its heart and now will be transferred to the stage.
