Derby LIVE’s Christmas production The Pantomime Adventures of Peter Pan smashed box-office records, playing to more than 48,000 people.

That is an increase of 38% (13,610) on the previous year’s panto Dick Whittington and His Cat.

Peter Pan which featured Larry Lamb and Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson was Derby LIVE’s tenth panto with Paul Holman Associates.

The show attracted audiences from as far afield as Belfast, Guernsey, Jersey, Scotland and Cornwall, some of whom braved adverse weather conditions and flight delays to get to Derby.

Peter Pan brought in more than 23,000 people from outside Derby city centre. Almost 14,000 tickets were taken up by schools.

Pete Meakin, Derby LIVE’s creative producer, said, “Whatever your age, Derby LIVE and its partners provided a great range of Christmas attractions for the people of Derby.

“This also enticed tens of thousands of people from beyond the city’s boundaries to visit Derby over the festive period.”
