Theatre by the Lake in Keswick is testing a new scheme to open up theatre to everyone. On January 17, the venue is offering a relaxed performance of its Christmas show The Railway Children.
This performance is aimed at anyone who would benefit from a more easy-going environment, including those with autistic spectrum conditions, sensory or communication disorders, or learning disabilities, in addition to families with young children.
During this performance there’s no need to worry about disrupting the show—there will be a more relaxed attitude to noise and movement, and audience members may leave the auditorium at any time. There will be extra lighting in the auditorium and loud sound effects will be dampened.
The Railway Children is suitable for all ages and Theatre by the Lake is offering £5 tickets to the relaxed performance for anyone aged under 26. There is a range of affordable ticket prices available for carers and accompanying adults.
