Taking the Strain: James Beagon's Standard Class gets an upgrade

Relief Theatre will return to Buxton Festival Fringe after a three-year hiatus with First Class.

The company has teamed up with Aulos Productions, founded by writer and director James Beagon, who has adapted his short play Standard Class which was performed in 2012 and 2013.

First Class features Lydia, Jack, and Rachel who are taking a train to Manchester Piccadilly. On the surface they all look content. But Lydia has run away from home and has a baby she can hardly feed, Jack has just returned to work after being suspended for the death of one of his students and Rachel, suffering from depression, is enduring the pressures of a failed tennis career.

First Class takes to the stage in The Pauper’s Pit on Friday, Saturday and Monday, 18, 19 and 21 July, at 7:45PM.
