Right Here Right Now

From Thursday 7 August to Sunday 10, for the fifteenth year running, Newcastle's Live Theatre will be taken over by its youth theatre members with a different show each night, each based around the theme of current affairs.

The festival, entitled Right Here Right Now, consists of:

  • Plays for Today: pieces inspired by recent stories, headlines and pictures from the news and devised over a period of ten days by groups of young people (Thursday 7 August);
  • Your Aunt Fanny: the all-female sketch group (Friday 8 August);
  • #MouthingOff: a politically themed game show in which leaders of tomorrow point out what's wrong with the ones we have today (Saturday 9 August);
  • 24/7: seven 10 minute plays rehearsed and performed in a day, by Paddy Campbell, Lee Mattinson, Ian Mclaughlin, Louise Taylor, Neil Armstrong as well as recent Northumbria University graduates Nina Berry and Francesca Wright (Sunday 10 August).
