“Witty and emotional” work: Roddy Doyle whose play Two Pints will be produced at the Belgrade

The UK première of Roddy Doyle’s Two Pints and a new adaptation of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women are among the new shows on stage at Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre in 2025.

Two Pints was originally produced by the Abbey Theatre, Dublin in 2017. This Belgrade Theatre co-production with Double M Arts and Events will be directed by Sara Joyce.

This “witty and emotional” play explores the friendship between two men of a certain vintage as they attempt to support each other through life’s triumphs and tragedies, one pint at a time. It will run at the Belgrade from Friday 2 until Saturday 24 May.

Anna-Marie Casey’s adaptation of Little Women will visit the Belgrade from Wednesday 19 until Saturday 22 March.

Other highlights include Laura Lomas’s The House Party, Headlong and Frantic Assembly’s “bold and searingly relevant” reimagining of August Strindberg’s Miss Julie, from Wednesday 7 until Saturday 10 May

The full programme is available at the Belgrade web site.
