Revealing: The Herbal Bed uncovers the secret life of Shakespeare’s daughter

Three girls are needed by Northampton’s Royal and Derngate to take part in its production of The Herbal Bed.

Peter Whelan’s play reveals the secret life of Shakespeare’s daughter and is based on real events in Stratford in the summer of 1613.

Director James Dacre is looking for girls aged between six and eight to play Shakespeare’s granddaughter who makes two short appearances and has a speaking part.

Three actors will rotate between performances. The girls need to have good concentration and acting ability.

Auditions will take place on Thursday 17 December, with 15-minute slots available from 4 to 8PM at the theatre. Parents must pre-register by Tuesday 15 December. To register, download a form and audition notes from the Royal and Derngate web site or pick a form at the box office.

For more information contact John Manning on 01604 655784 or e-mail [email protected].

The Herbal Bed runs on the Royal stage from 5 until 27 February.
