Two free public exhibitions are to go on view at the Royal Shakespeare Company in Stratford.

Simon Annand’s photographic exhibition The Half is a touring show from London’s Victoria and Albert Museum.

An updated version can be seen in Stratford which features new photographs on public display for the first time of Jane Lapotaire, Michael Pennington and David Tennant from the RSC’s current production of Richard II.

The Half is an actor’s countdown to walking on stage and facing an audience. Simon Annand’s photographs capture the final 35 minutes of excitement and intensity before a show begins.

There are 94 prints of actors from more than 30 years of British theatre, including new images of RSC actors preparing for the summer 2013 shows Titus Andronicus and Candide. Other RSC actors featured include Judi Dench, Jeremy Irons, David Oyelowo, Jonathan Slinger, Pippa Nixon and Mariah Gale.

The exhibition also features a video of images by Simon Annand of the RSC’s costume team and acting company working together backstage.

It runs in the Ferguson Room at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from Saturday 30 November until 16 February.

Sprite Symphony is multi-disciplinary artists Davy and Kristin McGuire’s new art installation and trail exploring the world of fairies.

It combines animation and projections with costumes and props made by the RSC. It has just opened in the PACCAR Room at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and runs until 2 March.
