RSC unveils full cast for Stratford Tempest

The Royal Shakespeare Company has revealed the full cast for its production of The Tempest which will be performed in Stratford early in 2023.

As previously announced, Alex Kingston will return to the RSC to play Prospero alongside Jessica Rhodes who will make her RSC debut as Miranda.

They will be joined by Jamie Ballard (Antonio), Ishia Bennison (Gonzalo), Simon Startin (Stephano), Cath Whitefield (Trinculo), Peter De Jersey (Alonso) and RSC debutants Grace Cookey-Gam (Sebastian), Heledd Gwynn (Ariel), Joseph Payne (Ferdinand) and Tommy Sim’aan (Caliban).

The rest of the company comprises Natalia Campbell (goddess), Tina Chiang (master), Liz Jadav (goddess), Jonny Khan (Francisco), Natalie Kimmerling (sailor), David Lee-Jones (Adrian), David Osmond (sailor), Rodrigo Peñalosa Pita (boatswain) and Imogen Slaughter (goddess).

Directed by Elizabeth Freestone, The Tempest has set design by Tom Piper, costume design by Tom Piper and Natasha Ward, lighting by Johanna Town, music and sound by Adrienne Quartly, movement by Sarita Piotrowski, fights by Kev McCurdy, and puppetry direction and design by Rachael Canning.

The Tempest will run in the Royal Shakespeare Theatre from Thursday 26 January until Saturday 4 March 2023. Press night will be on Thursday 2 February.
