Young people from the Royal Shakespeare Company’s Next Generation talent and skills development programme are to stage four performances of a new version of The Two Gentlemen of Verona.
For the past eight years, RSC Next Generation has provided young people with opportunities to learn and develop theatre skills. Participants are recruited through the RSC’s associate schools programme, the company’s partnership with schools and theatres in disadvantaged areas across England.
Twenty-four young people will be involved in The Two Gentlemen of Verona, with two taking on their first paid roles in theatre production. Muniira Ali will be the show’s trainee assistant director and Qaraman Saidzada trainee assistant stage manager.
The creative team includes director Paul Ainsworth, Reiltin Hart (set and costume designer) and Rosie Bergonzi (composer).
The Two Gentlemen of Verona will be performed in the open-air Holloway Garden Theatre, Stratford from Thursday 22 until Saturday 24 August.
