People comes to The Lowry in Salford next week following a sell-out run at the National Theatre, starring well-known face of stage and screen Brigit Forsyth from Hyde and Manchester Theatre Award winning Siân Phillips.

The play reunites Alan Bennett with director Nicholas Hytner, following their collaborations on the celebrated History Boys and The Habit of Art.

People is Bennett’s sixth play for the National. People spoil things; there are so many of them and the last thing one wants is them traipsing through one’s house.

But with the park a jungle and a bath on the billiard table, what is Dorothy to do? Her sister wants to hand the estate to the care of the National Trust, but Dorothy favours a more creative solution.
