The Tear Thief

A stage version of The Tear Thief—a story for children by Carol Ann Duffy—comes to The Studio at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre from Tuesday December 11 to Saturday December 29.

This modern fairy tale for children aged three and over is presented by Little Angel Theatre in association with the Royal Exchange and is brought to life using puppetry, live music and a recorded narration by Juliet Stevenson.

It tells the story of the Tear Thief, who—each night, in the hours between supper and bedtime—steals the tears of every child who cries. The show explores themes such as emotion, imagination, conflict, love, loss and magic.

It will play at the Exchange alongside Rats’ Tales—also based on stories by Duffy—in The Theatre from Thursday November 29 to Saturday January 12.
