Shakespeare's Globe casting

Samantha SpiroShakespeare's Globe has announced the casting for its 2012 season, which it has titled "The Play's The Thing", with Samantha Spiro headlining the season as Katherina in The Taming of the Shrew, directed by Toby Frow.

The season will open, however, with artistic director Dominic Dromgoole's continuation of his Henry cycle with Henry V with a cast led by Jamie Parker in the title role.

Also appearing in the season are Samuel Barnett, who will make his Globe debut as Elizabeth alongside Mark Rylance in Richard III and as Sebastian in Twelfth Night, and Johnny Flynn as Viola in Twelfth Night and Lady Anne in Richard III.

Tim Carroll will return to the Globe to direct Richard III and Twelfth Night with designer Jenny Tiramani and composer Claire van Kampen. Jonathan Fensom will continue his work as designer on Dromgoole's Henry plays.
