Buxton International Festival has been awarded £101,895 from the Culture Recovery Fund which ensures its financial stability and means it can activate plans for the 2021 festival.

Artistic director Adrian Kelly said, “this grant is a lifeline to the creative team and all the artists we are planning to work with in 2021.”

Recognised “nationally and internationally” as one of the UK’s leading arts festivals, Buxton International Festival is a “summer celebration of the very best opera, music and literature at the heart of the beautiful Peak District”. The 2020 festival had to be cancelled because of the coronavirus outbreak.

The next festival will take place from Thursday 8 until Sunday 25 July 2021.
