Paines Plough, Manchester’s Royal Exchange, the Independent Theatre Council and PANDA, the Performing Arts Network, will host a new independent touring symposium on January 30 at the Royal Exchange to explore ways to secure the long term future of small-scale touring.

Open to artists, producers, directors and venue managers, it will provide a forum to discuss and debate the key challenges and share experiences in a practical and applicable way.

Small-scale touring is full of challenges, not least in this time of threats to arts funding. The responses to a survey conducted by Paines Plough earlier this year highlighted a uniformity of issues amongst companies and venues.
