Coventry’s Belgrade Theatre has announced that Three Minute Heroes, which tells the story of the 2 Tone record label, will make its return to the city for three weeks in the autumn.
Written and directed by former Belgrade artistic director and life-long 2 Tone fan Bob Eaton, Three Minute Heroes played to sell-out audiences during its première at the Belgrade in 2000.
It tells the story of 2 Tone through the lives of five Coventry teenagers and the racial tensions that engulfed the city at that time. The production features a live band and a soundtrack of songs that made stars of bands including The Specials and Selecter.
Three Minute Heroes plays on the Belgrade’s B2 stage from 4 until 25 October.
This will be followed by the return of the Belgrade’s popular B2 Christmas show, Oh No It Isn’t!, a comedy thriller created especially for grown-ups, from 8 until 27 December. It will be written and directed by Coventry writer Nick Walker.
Other attractions in the Belgrade’s autumn season include Marie Jones’s Stones in his Pockets on 4 October.
