South Shields’ Customs House has announced its programme for the spring 2016 season.

Customs House Executive Director Ray Spencer said, “2016 is already shaping up to be an exciting year.

“The programme is as full and varied as it’s ever been with lots of shows I’m personally excited to see and lots of shows I’m thrilled to be bringing to The Customs House stage.”

Theatre highlights are:

  • 30 January
    Frogs and Snails and Teddy Bear Tales
    At 12PM and 2:30PM
    For age 3 – 7
  • 9 February
    Scratch Night
    The venue’s second scratch night of readings of works-in-progress by local writers/performers.
  • 12 and 13 February
    Dial M For Murder
    Starring Oliver Mellor (Coronation Street), Terri Dwyer (Hollyoaks) and Marcus Hutton (Brookside).
  • 16 to 18 February
    The Rabbit's Tail
    At 2PM
    A Customs House production for children.
  • 26 and 27 February
    Analogue presents
    Stowaway
    By Hannah Barker and Lewis Hetherington. The story about a man from India who finds himself far from home and adrift from everything he knows. An extraordinary journey in search of an impossible future.
  • 1 and 5 March
    Dance across the Tyne
    The Customs House community play.
  • 16 March
    Get Yourself Together
    One Christmas Josh was diagnosed with depression, then hit by a car. The following year he was on Job Seekers, balancing his sanity and gift buying. A show about being ill and being fit for work, exploring the line between the clinical and the political.

    Stones in His Pockets
  • 3 April
    How The Koala Learnt to Hug
    At 2:30PM
    For age 3+
  • 15 April
    A Living
    A solo show about money, time and what really makes the world go round, written and performed by Caroline Liversidge.
  • 19 April
    Nelson: the Sailor’s Story
    Inspirational hero. Flawed maverick. Tactical genius. Rebel. 200 years after Trafalgar, Nelson surveys the world from the top of his column with a wry and observant eye. Below him a homeless Falklands veteran shivers in the cold.
  • 25 and 26 April
    Rumpus Theatre Presents

  • 3 and 4 May
    Baby Love Productions present
