Durham’s Gala Theatre has announced its spring 2013 season. Theatrical highlights include three screenings of NT Live, the National Theatre’s live broadcast scheme, featuring Pinero’s The Magistrate this coming Thursday (17th January), Alan Bennett’s new play People (March) and James Graham’s This House in May.

The first live production will be An Intimate Evening with Ruthie Henshall on Saturday, 16th February.

April sees the West End production of Yes, Minister arriving in Durham as part of a national tour and English Touring Opera will bring Mozart’s Così fan Tutte and Verdi’s Simon Boccanegra.

The North East Children’s Theatre Consortium will also visit during the season with Mavis Sparkle, as will Newcastle-based contemporary dance company Appetite Dance Productions led by choreographer and artistic director Apple Yang whose work combines Chinese dance, martial arts and calligraphy. It will present two works, Letter to My Father and Crush.
