Stellar cast become Angry Men in Birmingham before West End

Robert Vaughn, Jeff Fahey, Nick Moran and Robert Vaughan who will appear in Twelve Angry Men

Robert Vaughn, Jeff Fahey and Nick Moran are to join Martin Shaw in the cast of Twelve Angry Men which opens at Birmingham REP before a West End transfer.

Written by Reginald Rose, this new production pays tribute to the Academy Award-nominated 1957 film which was produced by and starred Henry Fonda.

As previously announced, Martin Shaw will appear as juror number eight, the role made famous by Henry Fonda.

Robert Vaughn starred in some of the greatest film classics of the 20th century including an Oscar-nominated performance in The City Jungle and in three films opposite Steve McQueen: The Magnificent Seven, The Towering Inferno and Bullitt.

His TV credits include the series The Man from U.N.C.L.E which won a Golden Globe for the most popular television show in the world and more recently he was Albert Stroller in the BBC series Hustle.

He will play juror number ten, played in the original film by Ed Begley.

Jeff Fahey has starred in many indie classics including the title role in the cult sci-fi hit The Lawnmower Man opposite Pierce Brosnan.

He was the helicopter pilot Frank Lapidus in the television series Lost and in Twelve Angry Men will play juror number three, the role originated by Lee J Cobb.

Nick Moran is best known to film audiences for his role as Eddy the card sharp in Lock, Stock, and Two Smoking Barrels and as Scabior in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

He takes the role of juror number seven, the role played originally by Jack Warden.

Completing the cast are Paul Anthony Barber, Robert Blythe, David Calvitto, Edward Franklin, Owen O’Neill, Jason Ridington, Luke Shaw, Martin Turner and Miles Richardson.

Twelve Angry Men is directed by Christopher Haydon, with design by Michael Pavelka. Birmingham REP presents it in association with Bill Kenwright and Nica Burns.

It runs at the REP from Friday 4 October until Saturday 19 October, Theatre Royal Norwich from 21 to 26 October and Festival Theatre Malvern from 28 October to 2 November before transferring to London’s Garrick Theatre from 7 November to 1 March.
