Stockport Garrick Festival of New Writing

Stockport Garrick Theatre is undergoing a flurry of activity as it heads towards the end of its current season.

Between May 20-27, Britain’s longest-running Little Theatre will be hosting a Festival of New Writing.

Suzanne Bell of Manchester Royal Exchange will host a talk on the role of the dramaturg; Becky Prestwich who has written for the BBC, will explain how to spot a good idea and adapt it for different formats; Janys Chambers, from Bolton Octagon, will demonstrate how plays are “workshopped.

There will be performance readings of four different plays which have received further development at the Garrick and playwrights Alistair McDowall and Stockport’s own Simon Stephens will talk about their work.
