The Storming (Part 1 & 2) at Cornerhouse, Manchester

The Storming (Part 1 & 2) will be the final artwork at the iconic Cornerhouse in Manchester before the move to HOME in May.

Humberto Vélez’s mass participation artwork will take place in two parts on April 4 with audiences, artists, community groups and DJs from Manchester’s past and present club scenes taking part in a truly unique send off.

The event takes inspiration from the revolutionary mass-action performance The Storming of the Winter Palace (1920) and the comical movements of Jacques Tati’s characters in his 1967 film Playtime.

It is the final performance in group exhibition Playtime, curated by Sarah Perks, artistic director of visual art and film at Cornerhouse.
