The Guildford Shakespeare Theatre Company continues its 2014 programme with a double-bill of outdoor Shakespeare.
Twelfth Night kicks the season off in June, amidst the leafy surroundings of Guildford Castle Gardens. Featuring some of Shakespeare's favourite characters—Sir Toby Belch, Malvolio, Viola, Sir Andrew Aguecheek—and some of his most enduring poetry, Twelfth Night is a frivolous mix of wine and song, romance and trickery.
Director Tom Littler and designer Neil Irish return to GSC with a Victorian production, following last summer's As you Like It.
In July, staged in the weeks leading up to the national commemoration of the outbreak of the First World War, GSC relocates to Guildford Cathedral for Henry V, a sweeping story of victory over adversity.
The company will, for the first time, make use of outdoor lighting to place this iconic building centre stage. Director Caroline Devlin reunites with lighting designer Declan Randall to stage Shakespeare's rousing hymn to England.
Full cast details will be available in May.
