South Shields Customs House has announced its summer 2017 season which runs from May to August, featuring a wide range of performance from stand-up to music, from tribute bands to dance, from film to theatre, from amateur, youth, student and professional companies.

Theatre and dance highlights are:

    Alice in Wonderland

    Our Day Out
    By Willy Russell
    Presented by SA Productions, featuring both long standing professionals and the next generation of up and coming talent from Newcastle’s Sage Academy.

  • 27 (4PM) and 28 (noon & 4PM)
    The Railway Children
    A musical adaptation by Ben Sleep, presented by Talking Scarlet.

  • 16 June (7PM)
    The Filleting Machine
    By Tom Haddaway
    Presented by Blowin’ a Hooley Theatre

  • 25 June (7PM)
    Austen’s Women
    Rebecca Vaughan brings to life thirteen of Jane Austen’s women in this one-woman show produced by Dyad Productions in association with Theatre Tours International, directed by Guy Masterson.

  • 6 July
    Combustion
    By Asif Khan whose debut play is a comic take on the combustion surrounding young British Muslim lives in the North today.

  • 26 and 27 July (1:30 and 6:30)
    Beauty and the Beast
    A panto by AJ Productions of Middlesbrough.

  • 22 – 26 August (7:30; 2:30 matinees on Thursday and Saturday)
    End of the Pier
    A new production of Neil Armstrong’s comedy
    Ion Productions in association with the Customs House.

  • 30 August – 2 September (11AM and 2PM; no afternoon show on final day)
    …And the Cow Jumped into the Woods!
    For age 7 and under: the sequel to …And the Cow Jumped over the Moon, featuring Doddington the Cow and Arbuthnot from the 2016/2017 panto Jack and the Beanstalk.
