Morpeth-based The November Club has announced a summer season with a difference: walking through the county with the new Artistic Director and doorstep theatre.

Walk in Your Shoes is a journey from Hexham to Spittal, walking over 126 miles of St Oswald's Way across Northumberland with Joe Hufton.

“I'm relatively new to Northumberland, having just moved up here in lockdown,” he said, “so this is the perfect opportunity for me to get out and explore Northumberland. I'm looking forward to meeting people in the communities we stop off at along the way, but would also encourage you to sign up and walk with me, I'd love some company!”

The walk will be divided into nine stages:

  • Hexham to Great Whittington on Thursday 22 July
  • Great Whittington to Kirkwhelpington, Saturday 24 July
  • Rothbury to Thropton, Friday 30 July
  • Rothbury to Felton via Weldon Bridge, Sat 31 July
  • Felton to Amble via Warkworth, Thursday 5 August
  • Amble to Longhoughton via Alnmouth, Sat 7 August
  • Seahouses to Bamburgh, Thursday 12 August
  • Barn at Beal to Holy Island, Saturday 14 August
  • Barn at Beal to Spittal, Sunday 15 August

The walks range in length from 3 to 12 miles and all end with light refreshments. Full details, including how to sign up to take part, are on the November Club web site.

The company will also be bringing live theatre to the doorsteps of people in eight Northumberland communities.

There’s word that a miracle has happened up at Heavenfield. Is Saint Oswald, the original King of the North, back? It's true—and The November Club is bringing a contemporary retelling of the myths that make up the bones of Northumberland to people's doorsteps.

What happens when old spirits and stories find new life? Can Saints rise again? Can pilgrimage be protest?

This is where you can see these stories, either in your own garden or on the village green:

  • Great Whittington Friday 23 July
  • Kirkwhelpington Sunday 25 July
  • Thropton Friday 30 July
  • Felton Sunday 1 August
  • Amble Friday 6 August
  • Longhoughton Sunday 8 August
  • Lowick Friday 13 August
  • Spittal Sunday 15 August

Again full details are on the November Club web site but please note that you should register your interest by 9 July.
