A new play which was first rehearsed and performed on Zoom during lockdown is to have a limited run in Birmingham.
Stratford-based Sweet Sorrow Theatre Company will stage Edward Loboda’s The System, written in iambic pentameter, which deals with issues of age, social care, state control and euthanasia. It is not suited to anyone aged under 16.
Loboda said, “The System is in place for the good of all. It benefits everyone—or at least it should. In an eerily familiar world, good people must choose between the supposed needs of the many and the good of the one.”
The cast comprises Dawn Butler, Morgan Rees-Davies, Beth Wilcox, Liam Alexandru, Ellie Darvill and Liz Blake. Loboda is director and producer and Harriet Colmer is stage manager.
The System will be performed at the Crescent Theatre, Birmingham from Thursday 23 until Saturday 25 February.
