Following an acclaimed theatre debut with Ten, visual artist Hetain Patel returns to the Nuffield stage at Lancaster University in collaboration with dancer Yuyu Rau and digital artist Barret Hodgson on February 12.
Conceptually driven, Hetain works with photography, video and live performance to look at ideas around how we form identity through the use of language and movement.
He says: “Have you ever wanted to be somebody else? I always wanted to be Bruce Lee. In fact I share the same birthday as him. This must mean something, right? What determines who you are anyway?
"This is what I’m asking in my new theatre piece Be Like Water... And for this show I’ve had to learn a bit of kung-fu and Chinese… Expect a duet, lots of text, interaction with video projections, and some northern factory talk courtesy of my dad.”
