Testing Times by Steve Burbridge

A new play by north east freelance journalist and occasional BTG reviewer Steve Burbridge premières in Newcastle next week, from Monday 22 to Saturday 27 April (not Friday).

Based on Burbridge’s interviews conducted with HIV+ young men from around the region, Testing Times explores the life-changing impact of being diagnosed HIV+ from the perspective of a young gay man, his partner and his mother.

The play stars Collin Baxter, former member of the boy band Caught in the Act, as Chris, local actor Christopher Strain as his partner Dominic and Pauline Fleming (Brookside, Coronation Street) as his mother, Brenda.

Two of the five performances at Trent House are already sold out.

This is Burbridge’s first play to be performed but his first play, written last year, is currently being prepared for a national tour.
