Krazy Kat's Midsummer Night's Dream

Celebrating its 30th anniversary in 2013, Krazy Kat, the UK's only theatre company to use sign language in all its performances, presents a 50-minute A (midsummer night's) DREAM in association with Guildford's Yvonne Arnaud Theatre.

Artistic Director Kinny Gardner said: "I have always been compelled to make my dreams realities. I'm thriled to be bringing this new dream to encourage so many young dreamers in theirs."

Three actors, puppets, live singing, recorded and live music and a theatrical use of sign language come together in a version of A Midsummer Night's Dream suitable for deaf children and their hearing peers and families, devised around the image theatre work of Gardner. The performance will also feature a host of magic effects and tricks.

It's Midsummer Night and, while three daft actors are trying to rehearse a play, a girl runs away to the enchancted woods with her love to escape from her cross father. Meanwhile, the Fairy King and Queen are fighting and Robin insists on being called Puck in a mixture of moonlight, magic, mischief and matchmaking.

The show is suitable for ages 4 to 11 and begins its tour on 8 May at the Yvonne Arnaud Theatre, Guildford.

Gardner is currently a Development Adviser to BBC Cbeebies working on new mainstream Sign Language relevision projects for children.
