The Lady’s Not For Walking Like An Egyptian

The Lady’s Not For Walking Like An Egyptian—commissioned by Ovalhouse and presented by innovative theatre makers Mars.tarrab—comes to The Studio at Manchester’s Royal Exchange Theatre from April 9 to 11.

Written and performed by Rachel Mars and Nat Tarrab, this show crosses the words of Margaret Thatcher’s speeches with all the words of every top ten hit by a female artist from the 1980s—and look at them through the filter of American Tan tights.

It asks questions about power and influence, the female voice and the creation of memory and seeing your dad in tears on election night 1979.

Mars said: “we are concerned with the funny, sad, revealing moments of life; both the moments that change the course of your life as you know it and the ones that whip past almost without your noticing.”
