Sale’s Waterside Arts Centre in Greater Manchester and Creative Industries Trafford have announced winners of their Independent Theatre Commission.
Manchester-based Mighty Heart Theatre was announced as the lucky recipient following a ‘scratch night’, where four theatre companies, shortlisted from more than 60 submissions, pitched their ideas to a live audience and industry panel.
Might Heart Theatre’s new show What's The Matter With You? sets out to tackle the big bad world of mental health. They will interview hundreds of people about their experiences and use the stories to create a new performance.
As well as securing a three-night run for the show at Waterside from November 26-28, the company also received £2,000 to produce the play.
Previous winners include Checkshirt Theatre Company, Nick Birchill and the first recipients, Square Peg Theatre, which has since toured three shows around the UK.
