A Midsummer Night's Dream

A new theatre company are finding their feet—three of them!—in Lancaster, with big steps ahead.

Three Left Feet has already performed A Christmas Carol, in the King Street branch of Waterstones, and A Fisherman’s Tale at the Maritime Museum.

The company presents its work in unconventional spaces and this summer will be venturing outdoors for two events in Williamson Park: A Midsummer Night’s Dream set in the Pendle Witch era and an Arts In The Park festival.

They also want to create opportunities for others, like them, who enjoy participating in performing arts.

Three Left Feet are Elspeth Dale, Lara Orriss and Lucy Malaihollo-Sheppard who met at Lancaster University Theatre Group.

Among LUTG productions they were involved with were Twelfth Night in Williamson Park, An Ideal Husband in the Royal Kings Arms Hotel, The 39 Steps in the Dalton Rooms and a musical version of Jekyll and Hyde at the Nuffield Theatre.

“I always wanted to start a theatre company when I graduated,” said Elspeth.

The company received a Thrive Not Just Survive grant, funding to support young people diagnosed or treated for cancer to fulfil their ambitions, as both Elspeth and Lara had cancer as teenagers.

Three Left Feet has also been supported by Work in Progress, based at Lancaster University, which helps students to achieve enterprising goals.
