Karole Armitage, Marina Collard and Hetain Patel have been commissioned to create a triple bill of new works for Transitions Dance Company for an international tour in 2019.

American choreographer Karole Armitage is artistic director of the New York-based Armitage Gone! Dance Company. Known as the “punk ballerina”, Armitage is renowned for pushing the boundaries to create contemporary works that blend dance, music and art.

She has choreographed for dance companies across the globe, ranging from the Paris Opera Ballet to the Tasmanian Dance Company and the Bolshoi.

Marina Collard is a British performer, choreographer and a member of staff at the Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. She is interested in collaborating with artists from different disciplines. She has had a partnership for more than 15 years with filmmaker Tom Paine, producing work for theatres and galleries.

London-based Hetain Patel is an associate at Sadler’s Wells. His work explores identity and freedom using humour, choreography and text in multiple formats.

Transitions is a “leading student training company, a space for performance experimentation and a touring programme of dance rolled into one”.
