A host of artistes are to stage an evening in tribute to Ian Sandy who had a long association with Birmingham’s theatre scene.

In Sunday Night at the Birmingham Hippodrome artistes who worked with Ian Sandy will come together in aid of his favourite charities: Cancer Research UK, Help Harry Help Others, Macmillan Cancer Support, Midlands Air Ambulance and the RSPCA.

Ian Sandy was widely known for his association with the Hippodrome’s annual panto as company manager for Qdos Entertainment. He had 22 panto seasons at the theatre before his death in December.

Brian Conley, Lesley Joseph, Joe Pasquale, Lynda Bellingham, Paul Zerdin, Basil Brush, Don Maclean, Ceri Dupree, Kathryn Rooney, Malcolm Stent, Jeffrey Holland, Nigel Ellacott, Andrew Ryan and Martin Ramsdin will all be appearing.

Stuart Griffiths, Birmingham Hippodrome’s chief executive said, “Ian was a very close friend of the theatre, much loved by the team here.

“The Sunday Night show we’re proud to host will be a great tribute to a true professional who will of course be much missed by everyone who knew him.”

Sunday Night at the Birmingham Hippodrome will be held on 12 May.
