East Midlands-based touring company New Perspectives has announced that three world premières will be touring nationwide as part of its 2013/14 season.

They are comedy The Boss of it All, New Perspectives artistic leader Jack McNamara’s adaptation of the film by Lars von Trier; David Rudkin’s version of The Lovesong of Alfred J Hitchcock; and McNamara’s version of Nobel Prize winner Saul Bellow’s Him With His Foot in His Mouth.

McNamara said, “New Perspectives has a strong history of storytelling and I’m excited to find stories from around the world that offer us fresh ways of seeing things.

“My opening season is made up of work by and about three internationally renowned, mould-breaking storytellers: Lars Von Trier, Alfred Hitchcock and Saul Bellow.

“Von Trier and Bellow have never had their work performed on stage in the UK, and the unseen great work about Hitchcock first began life as an award-winning radio play.

“These artists offer us a unique view of the world and I’m thrilled to be able to place their work under a fresh theatrical lens, bringing them to audiences around the country both in theatres and rural villages.”

The Boss of It All will première at The Assembly Rooms Roxy Central in Edinburgh from 1 to 26 August as part of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. There are plans to take it on tour next year.

David Rudkin has adapted his radio play The Lovesong of Alfred J Hitchcock for New Perspectives.

Rudkin has built the play out of decades of close study of Hitchcock and his unparalleled body of work.

The Lovesong of Alfred J Hitchcock is a co-production with Leicester’s Curve and premières there from 26 September until 5 October.

Saul Bellow is considered to be one of the 20th century’s most influential American authors. The one-man show Him With His Foot in His Mouth will tour from January to April next year.
