The Hum is a free sound and movement trail centred across the Lancaster District by Flexer & Sandiland.
Locations include St Nic’s Arcade and the Bus Station in the city as well as the Arndale Centre and Pleasureland Arcade in Morecambe.
There are no performers and no stage, just life framed as performance through your phone or other mobile device: it’s described as everyday choreography by everyday people on their journeys through the streets.
The Hum incorporates text and reading from a range of artists. The writers are dance artist Wendy Houston, dance writer for The Times Donald Hutera, Maria Oshodi director of Extant Theatre Company and live artist Pete Phillips. Readers include George Adams of LPM Dance Theatre and theatre writer and director Mark Whitelaw.
The work explores movement to create narratives.
