Tupele Dorgu will play the lead in Lichfield Garrick Rep Company’s production of Willy Russell’s Educating Rita.
She is best known for playing Kelly Crabtree in Coronation Street and also played Velma in the UK tour of Chicago.
She will be joined on stage by Garrick Rep Company producer and actor-in-residence Tom Roberts who will play Frank.
Adrian Jackson, the Garrick’s chief executive and artistic director, said, “We’re delighted to announce that Tupele Dorgu will be playing Rita in our new production of this famous play.
“Educating Rita is a hugely popular and very poignant play which is perfect for our rep company.”
It will run in the Garrick’s studio from Friday 31 May until Saturday 22 June.
