This Christmas children’s theatre company Kitchen Zoo, which produces shows for the under-6s, will be appearing at two different venues with two different shows.

Last year’s show, The Three Bears at Christmas, will be at the Queen’s Hall in Hexham on 11, 12, 16 and 29 December (various times), and the new production, Wolf, runs in Stage 3 at Northern Stage from 23 November to 4 January (various times). Both shows are directed by Brad McCormick (of Cap-a-Pie Theatre).

Wolf will be performed by the company’s founding members, Hannah Goudie-Hunter and Bob Nicholson, with original songs and music by Katie Doherty and sound design by Matt Tuckey. The designer is Alison Ashton, the puppet designer Ailsa Dalling and lighting designer Richard Flood.

The Three Bears at Christmas has the same creative team, except that Jeremy Bradfield is the musician and composer, but, of course, it’s a different cast from last year’s production, with Umar Butt playing Daddy Bear and Ruth Mary Johnson, one of the stalwarts of NE children’s theatre, as Mammy Bear.

A number of shows at both venues are already sold out: at the Queen’s Hall 11 December 10:00 and 1:00, 12 December at 1:00PM, 16 December at 10:00 and 19 December at 10:00, and at Northern Stage 6 December at 10:30, 7 December at 11:00, 12 December at 10:30, 13 December at 1:00 and 17 December at 10:30.
